Time came and went for Aesleng as she started the first of many in the book series she was to write, and her father couldn't have been more proud of his daughter. Life for her was going well, despite she was barely scraping by. Kenyon and she started to see one another more frequently, going out on dates, spending time at one another's places, and Aesleng was really beginning to fall for him.
"Yes, I know Papa, but you should come out for a visit, get to know him before you have such words about him." Aesleng stated to her father while on the phone on a hot, sunday afternoon. The sun was pouring through the windows as Aesleng paced her small living room floor. "That's all I'm going to say about it, Papa, get to know him first. He's a good guy." Her father and she continue to talk, but, finally let the subject die down, before he had to get ready to go to work and the two of them hung up with one another.
"That man, he irritates me so!" Aesleng grumbled to herself as she hung up the phone before walking over to a window and began to gaze out of it. She had been dating Kenyon for a few months now, and to her, things were going great. Sure, she and Kenyon had the talk about relationships, and what they wanted for the future, as a whole, but, it was still far too early in their relationship to be thinking about something so serious, right? They had all the time in the world to get to know one another, and get married, if it even came down to that. Things can change in a blink of an eye though.
Aesleng noticed the time, and decided to start getting ready for their date for seven that night. Kenyon had been able to take time off from work so they could go to the art museum, just like she had been wanting to do since the new exhibit had came in a few days before. Kenyon had been working hard, and had finally made it to being a full time fire fighter, despite he was still considered new on the job.
Aesleng was actually quite excited to be going to the museum, not to mention it had been a couple of days since she and Kenyon had spent real quality time together. "Maybe he could spend the night again.." Aesleng thought to herself, despite Kenyon was practically already living with her whether he was still living out of his villa connected to hers or not. Of course her father didn't approve of this sort of living arrangement, but, his daughter was an adult now, and all he could do was give her advice that she most likely wouldn't take anyhow.
Aesleng was to meet Kenyon at the museum, as he was just getting off work, and was to rush home to clean up before heading to their date. Getting their on time, Aesleng was starting to feel a bit nauseous which wasn't like her, since she was rarely sick. "Really not a good time.." She thought to herself, really not a good time either, but, she had been feeling this way for a few days now. "It's only nerves." It had to be right? The stress of trying to write a best seller, the date, her father being the way he always is when it comes to her and her life. It's really no wonder that Aesleng would be a ball of nerves. Or, was she really getting sick? Or, could it be something else? She pushed all the thoughts out of her head, swallowing hard, just as Kenyon came up next to her, greeting her as usual, a small kiss on the cheek.
"Hey gorgeous." Kenyon said to her, and the both of them walked into the museum. It was filled with people, but it wasn't as crowded as it could have been. Walking around the entire exhibit, Aesleng and Kenyon both discussed what they felt about the pieces of art, which he didn't seem to see what she saw, which upset her a little bit, but there wasn't anything she could do about it. Not everyone could see what she saw. Needing air, the two went outside, and sat down at a small table. Aesleng began to feel nauseous again, and thought it best to bring up another touchy subject that she had already brought up to him a week or so ago, about him fully moving in, and them taking the next step in their relationship. She felt very strongly about Kenyon, loved him even, but he never seemed to want to take that last step over the threshold with her.
"I mean, don't you want kids? Or, at least to spend more time with me? If you moved in.." Aesleng was trying to say when Kenyon interrupted her and spoke. "Aes, we already had this conversation, no I don't want kids.. Never have. I wouldn't be a good father anyway.. And, I told you, I don't mind spending the night, but, I'm just not ready to live with you just yet. Now come on, why don't we go back to your place and hang out a bit more before I have to get home to get some sleep for work." Kenyon stood up from the table. "Besides, if I lived with you, you would never get any writing done, and we can't have that now can we?" He smirked down toward her, but, Aesleng had to force a smile toward him.
Pushing away from the table, Aesleng stood up, and both took a cab back to their villa. Once inside Aesleng's home, Kenyon headed over toward the sofa, and turned the old tv set on. But, two feet into the house, so to speak, Aesleng couldn't hold her nausea any longer, especially after the silent ride back to their place, and the conversation they had just had, she had to rush off toward the bathroom, barely making it. Kenyon didn't even notice.
Once cleaned up, and having splashed cold water on her face, and dried it, she headed back out toward the living room where Kenyon was flipping through the channels. Aesleng had a million thoughts racing through her head, but tried to push them aside while moving to sit next to him on the sofa. Finally deciding on something to watch for the next two hours, they sat their in silence, until it was time for Kenyon to leave. Hugging good bye, Aesleng headed toward her bed to curl up in. She had never felt this way before, especially while feeling the way she did about someone, so strongly, as she does for Kenyon. She decided that in the morning she would call and talk to Mulberry Starfruit about all of this and see what she had to say about it. A good friend of hers, her best friend since moving to Cala Blanca. She was a slight bit older than her, married, and already had two kids, but they had hit it off, and she had became a really good friend.
